Hello everyone!
My name is Aniston Anderson, and I'm a junior at Holmes County High School. I have the honor of serving as the Florida District Secretary for Key Club International, and I'm so excited to work alongside our incredible District Board this year!
I joined Key Club during my freshman year because I was looking for community service opportunities. I quickly realized that Key Club was so much more than earning service hours—it gave me opportunities to grow as a leader, build lifelong friendships, and make a difference in my community. Since then, I've continued taking on new leadership opportunities, and I'm incredibly grateful to now serve as your District Secretary.
Leadership Journey
Serving as District Secretary means having the opportunity to support our district while helping keep everything organized and running smoothly. I love knowing that the work I do behind the scenes helps our District Board, Lieutenant Governors, and clubs succeed. It’s an honor to represent Key Clubbers from across Florida and contribute to our district’s success.
As District Secretary, I’m responsible for recording meeting minutes, maintaining district records, organizing important documents, managing Keymunnity, and ensuring communication stays clear and consistent throughout the year. I also work closely with the Executive Committee, Lieutenant Governors, and adult advisors to help keep our district organized and informed.
My Key Club Journey
I joined Key Club my freshman year because I wanted to earn community service hours, but it quickly became so much more than that. The friendships I made, the opportunities I was given, and the impact I was able to make inspired me to become more involved and eventually pursue district leadership.
Vision for the Year
I’m excited to strengthen communication across our district and help every Lieutenant Governor and club stay informed. I’m also looking forward to seeing our members grow as leaders, meeting Key Clubbers from across Florida, and watching everything we accomplish together this year.
My favorite Key Club memory has to be attending my first District Convention (DCON) during my freshman year. It was amazing to meet members from all over Florida, experience the energy of the district, and realize just how much of an impact Key Club has. That weekend inspired me to become more involved and helped shape my leadership journey.
Key Club has helped me become a more confident leader by teaching me how to communicate effectively, work as part of a team, and step outside of my comfort zone. It’s shown me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers it’s about serving others, staying dependable, and always being willing to learn and grow.
Leadership & Growth
Leadership isn’t about being the loudest person in the room, it’s about being someone others can depend on. Showing up consistently, following through on your commitments, and supporting the people around you can make just as much of an impact as leading from the front.
Don’t be afraid to get involved. Say yes to new opportunities, ask questions, and learn from the people around you. Every leadership experience teaches you something valuable, and some of your greatest growth will come from stepping outside your comfort zone.
My biggest goals this year are to strengthen communication across the Florida District and achieve 100% Officer Information Form (OIF) completion. I want every Lieutenant Governor and club to feel supported and have the information they need to succeed throughout the service year.
Outside of Key Club, I’m involved in varsity basketball, varsity volleyball, Student Government, Beta Club, and theatre. I also compete in pageants and rodeos, so I stay pretty busy throughout the year! I love being involved in activities that challenge me and allow me to meet new people.
A Day in the Life
My days are usually packed between school, sports, and extracurricular activities. At home, I love eating my favorite food, Steak Fajita Quesadillas while watching my comfort movie 8 Seconds. When doing homework I love listening to my favorite song Really Wanna Know by Ole 60. Besides my hobbies, I dedicate time to my responsibilities as District Secretary in organizing documents, taking care of district communications, preparing meeting minutes, and making sure everything stays on track. Determined is a word I would love to live to!
Behind the Scenes
People often don’t realize how much work happens behind the scenes. There’s a lot of time spent taking meeting minutes, organizing docs, responding to emails, preparing reports, having calls with each LTG individually, and making sure important information reaches everyone who needs it.
My favorite part is knowing that even though much of my work happens behind the scenes, it helps our District Board and clubs succeed. It’s rewarding to see everything come together and know I played a part in making it happen.
Advice for Key Clubbers
“Never underestimate yourself. You don’t have to know everything on day one. Be willing to learn, ask questions, and trust that every challenge will help you become a stronger leader.”
My favorite Key Club event is DCON.
My favorite Key Club tradition is watching new district leaders take the stage and continue the legacy of those before them.
My favorite part of serving on the district board are the people. The friendships and connections I’ve made through Key Club are what make every meeting, project, and late night worthwhile.
