Hello Mighty Florida District,
My name is Danna Gomez Rodriguez, and I am a junior at Fort Pierce High School. I have been a Key Club member since my freshman year and am so excited to serve as your 2026–2027 District Editor!
Leadership Journey
I have always enjoyed being involved in leadership, meeting new people, and finding ways to make my community a better place. When I started high school, Fort Pierce High School’s Key Club was the largest club at my school and one of the largest in the state. Being part of something so big immediately caught my attention. As a freshman, I wanted to make friends, get involved in my school, earn service hours, and try new activities, so I decided to join.
Being the District Editor means having the opportunity to combine my passion for Key Club with my creativity while sharing what I have learned throughout my journey. I love being able to bring new ideas to the table and create things that help members feel informed, connected, and appreciated. To me, this role is also about giving back to the organization that has helped me grow so much.
My main responsibilities include working on the Sunshine Source, Key’p Up, creating newsletter templates for Lieutenant Governors to share with their divisions, and ensuring that district communications follow our graphic standards. I also help communicate opportunities and important information to members while finding creative ways to showcase the amazing work happening throughout the Florida District.
Vision for the Year
This year, I am most excited about highlighting our clubs and the incredible work our members are doing. I want members to know that their service matters, even when it may not always be seen. I hope to attend as many Divisional Council Meetings (DCMs) as possible, meet members from across the district, and give clubs more opportunities for their service and accomplishments to be recognized. I am also excited to create new designs, connect with members, and see how much we can all grow throughout the year!
My Key Club Journey
I first got involved in Key Club during my freshman year, when I attended meetings all by myself with very little knowledge of what Key Club was. Soon after, I attended a volunteer event because I wanted to become more involved at my local food bank. I didn’t realize that volunteers under the age of 16 had to be accompanied by a guardian, so my mom volunteered alongside me. It ended up being a very memorable experience.
I also didn’t know anyone at the event, and you could clearly tell it was one of my first few volunteer experiences. However, from that day forward, I immediately fell in love with Key Club and everything it represented.
My favorite Key Club memory so far has to be DCON 2026. From the theme to celebrating the amazing year we had, it was an incredible experience. Being able to come together and celebrate all of our accomplishments made it such a memorable way to end an amazing service year.
Key Club has had the biggest impact on me as a leader. I used to be a very introverted person, but as I became more involved with Key Club, my school, and my community, I began having more opportunities to talk to leaders, express myself, and practice public speaking. I am so honored to have had these experiences and to have been able to grow so much as a person.
Leadership & Growth
One leadership lesson I have learned is to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things. It is truly unbelievable how many opportunities Key Club offers and how much you can grow through them. I encourage everyone to get involved and learn about all of the amazing opportunities that Key Club has to offer.
A personal goal I have for myself is to continue stepping outside of my comfort zone, improving my public speaking skills, and continuing to do what I love. Although balancing everything can sometimes be difficult, at the end of the day, it is all worth it. Key Club is something that has truly changed my life.
Fun Facts
I have always loved art. I started taking Art Britto classes when I was just six years old and later took various graphic design and video classes throughout middle school. I was born and raised in Colombia, and I am also very interested in the health field. This interest inspired me to start a Red Cross Club at my school during my sophomore year.
Outside of Key Club, some of my hobbies include traveling, eating chicken alfredo, listening to Billie Eilish, spending time with my friends, and enjoying different genres of music. I hope to travel to many countries around the world in the future. I also have a Yorkshire Terrier named Lulu! I still love art, although I don’t get to do it as often as I used to.
Something people may not know about me is that I am extremely hardworking and determined to achieve my goals. I always try to prioritize my responsibilities and find a balance between everything I am involved in.

A Day in the Life
A typical day for me consists of attending school. I only have four classes at school, so my high school classes are relatively minimal. After school, I usually go home and catch up on homework or Key Club responsibilities before attending my Dual Enrollment classes on the days I have them.
I usually attend club meetings after my classes and then go to work. Once I get home, I either have some time for myself or finish up some of my remaining responsibilities. My days can definitely get busy, but I enjoy staying involved and making the most of my time.
Behind the Scenes
Something people may not see about my role is the amount of time and effort that goes into each project. I spend many hours designing, editing, communicating, and reaching out to new people to bring ideas and projects to life. There is a lot of work that happens behind the scenes before something is ready to be shared with the district.
My favorite part is having the creative freedom to bring my ideas to life. I love being able to experiment with different designs, find new ways to present information, and put my own creative touch into the publications and projects I work on. Seeing an idea go from something in my head to a finished product that others can enjoy is one of my favorite parts of being District Editor.
Advice for Key Clubbers
Step outside of your comfort zone and take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. You never know where one opportunity may lead you or how much you will grow from it. Don’t be afraid to try something new, meet new people, and make the most of your time as a district leader.

Key Club tradition – Attending DCON, especially because I have attended every year since my freshman year. It has become something I look forward to every service year.
