Monday - Show Your K! - November 4th
Show people what Key Club is all about! Spread the word by wearing Key Club gear and publicizing Key Club Week in person, on your socials, in community newspapers – anywhere. Decorate the door of your advisor, a business, or a community leader to spread awareness about our organization. Make sure to tag @flkeyclub in your stories, posts, etc.; you may be featured!
How to “Show Your K!”
– Encourage members to take photos in Key Club shirts or holding Key Club signs to showcase their spirit. Offer a small prize for the most creative or spirited photo.
– Put up Key Club posters around the school.
– Place paper Keys around your school and host a scavenger hunt with a prize for the person who finds the most. Take a group photo and tag @flkeyclub
– Decorate the entrance of your school with a giant poster.
– Create a social media post and add graphics or symbols that represent your Key Club. Don’t forget to hashtag #KeyClubWeek
Tuesday - Invite & Include! - November 5th
Let your friends know why you love Key Club! This is the perfect day to show off how awesome and inclusive Key Club is, and why it matters so much to your school and community. Why not ask a friend to come along to a service project or meeting? It’s a chance for them to see firsthand how Key Club helps us grow as students and have a blast while making a real difference. Try giving a friend an official club invite.
How to “Invite and Include!”
– Invite all school clubs and host one large social event. Have every club bring a food/drink item, potluck style, and play games to intermingle with members from other clubs.
– Have a social night or mixer at a restaurant/fast food place near your school and invite everyone of all branches of the Kiwanis Family to join.
– Orchestrate a fundraiser at a local restaurant or your school.
– Organize a club meeting where members are encouraged to bring a friend and create a welcoming environment.
– Ask members to share their personal Key Club stories – how they joined, why they stayed, and what they have gained. This can inspire potential members and demonstrate the value of joining.
Wednesday - Dare to Share! - November 6th
Celebrate diversity and equity with the Key Club family. We have members across the globe and want to spotlight everyone’s uniqueness! Check out these GIPHY stickers you can use on your Instagram story to show what makes you and your club shine.
How to “Dare to Share!”
– Make Key Club stickers and pass them out to everyone.
– Highlight the most active members in your club and post them on your socials.
– Create an Instagram story sticker, “My Fav Key Club Memory”, and encourage members to respond to it and repost to their stories.
– Create a photo or video montage of service projects your club has done. Include pictures of members actively working on those projects to inspire new members.
– Have different members take over the club’s social media for a day, giving their perspective and showcasing behind-the-scenes of what being in Key Club is like.
Thursday - Random Acts of Kindness! - November 7th
A smile goes a long way. Spread happiness throughout your school by implementing random acts of kindness. Leaving cards with inspirational messages on every student’s locker or simply holding the door for someone else can brighten their day. You can share these kindness posters around your school and community. Post a picture and tag @flkeyclub, and your post might be shared!
How to spread “Random Acts of Kindness!”
– Draw kind messages in chalk on your school sidewalk (with permission).
– Make candy grams and hand them out to teachers, front office staff, students, etc.
– Create and distribute encouraging cards.
– Create “Kindness Rocks” where members can write or paint kind messages on them. Place them around campus or in classrooms for others to find.
– Organize a school-wide or community food drive, collecting non-perishable items for your local food bank. Ask students to attach a note of encouragement or a kind message with their food donation to personalize it.
Friday - Connect the Ks! - November 8th
Key Club is the largest high school service organization in the world and is just one branch of the Kiwanis Family. Celebrate the entire family of Kiwanis by getting the whole gang involved. Connect with local Kiwanis, Circle K International, Builders, K-Kids, or Aktion clubs and team up for a joint service project or virtual event. Click here to gain some ideas on what you can do! If you have a really cool service project, you can submit it to the Key Club International service directory. Use the KCI week GIPHY stickers to let us know what Kiwanis Family you plan to join next.
How to “Connect the Ks!”
– Connect with your local Builder’s club/K-Kids/Kiwanis Club and complete an after-school activity; zoom is always an option.
– Organize a scavenger hunt that involves finding items or completing tasks related to the Kiwanis Family and don’t forget to collaborate with other clubs.
– Create a “Kiwanis Family Wall” at your school or community center which displays photos and information about the different Kiwanis Family branches, showcasing the diversity and impact of each group.
– Organize a service project in collaboration with your local Kiwanis Family clubs; this can be a food drive, community clean-up, or charity event.
– Offer resources on how to join Circle K International and make it easier for members to stay involved in service after high school.
We can’t wait to see the ways your club showcases your Key Club spirit by participating in Key Club Week! Don’t forget to check out the Instagram at @flkeyclub for daily Key Club Week posts!
